Celebrations & Occasions Food & Dining My Kids Others

Trick or Treat 2018

Like last year when all my focus & attention centered on our dear Lovey’s debut, this year was no different as I directed my energy on Kap’s 50th birthday celebrations. For short, masyado ako na-busy at nakalimutan ko tuloy uli bumili ng family costume namin huhu.

Trick or Treating has been a yearly family tradition. Although we don’t really decorate our home & celebrate Halloween in its entirety, we (meaning I) like to dress up in costumes & go around our beautiful village to give out treats to visiting kids (and sometimes adults too) & make usi the pimped up decors. As in talagang pinagkakagastusan!

Last year, our barangay even put up a contest to encourage homeowners to decorate their homes and give out candies to little kids. But I guess my shala neighbors finally got fed up with the gush of “outsiders” that they chose to ignore the event & turn a blind eye. Most just closed their doors & kept to themselves, hoping the day would end soon enough.

Kudos to these awesome individuals though who still went out of their way to ensure that the villagers who are G(ame) still get a treat even though it’s mostly visual.

The kids know how much I love dressing up & going around the village so they make it a point to reserve the day for me, lalo na itong si Babyson na ang hirap hagilapin. To his credit, sinasamahan naman nya muna ako before he meets up with his buds.

Unfortunately though, Ate had classes this year so she came home late na & wasn’t able to join our little troop. Ateneo is a stickler for attendance, kainez.

Halloween gives us the chance to empty out our pantry of forgotten snacks lol. The girls buy so many healthy foods then forget about them, so once a year, we check them for expiration then put everything in a big bag to give away as we go around. Win-win! ;))

Every year, the decor seems to be dwindling. Pakonti ng pakonti. Ganun din ang mga tao. Paano ba naman, my alta neighbors are such grinches I swear. Daming reklamo. Honestly, if not for the visiting kids, walang mga bata na iikot. Our rich neighbors leave the country during holidays, so walang natitirang mga bata para mag trick or treat.

My neighbors are a bunch of faultfinding crabs. Lahat nalang may issue, NKKLK na. Flavor of the week is of course, halloween & the revellers. These are just SOME of the thread I screen-cap’d for your entertainment haha. You should see what else they say in “The Loop” (Ayala Alabang Village’s secret facebook page), a bunch of entitled grouches na akala mo naman nasa Philippines richest 2018! Ayaw maki-halubilo sa mga “commoners”. 😛 Mga atey, Ayala Alabang lang po tayo, we’re not even Forbes Park levelz! ;))

PS: CLICK HERE to see what my neighbors are bickering on naman now after the gate issue. Hayz.

To be fair, meron din naman ilang good neighbors who commissioned food carts for the enjoyment of the merrymakers. May dirty ice cream, may mga isaw & bbq, atbp. <3 Those who really line up for these treats are who my neighbors call the “outsiders”, more than the residents. Kaya naman talaga year after year, people from outside the gates patiently line up just to get a glimpse of the outstanding decors & get goodies.

Ayala Alabang is a BIG village, with almost 5,000 homes occupying the 700+ hectares. So nakakapagod talaga suyurin. And pity those who are on feet, walking from district to district with candies few & far between.

Happy to see that the BAES clan still made a gargantuan effort to keep the spirit alive by contributing a super nice lawn display featuring Thanos & Iron man. They won best in decor last year, CLICK HERE to see what they came up with. Family effort talaga, #goals

Thanos is a fictional character that appeared in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe and has clashed with many heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and among many others.

For the past years, my Babyson invites his friends over during the 31st for a get-together dinner. I always look forward to hosting, albeit simply. This year, Babyson just asked for steaks (I buy a whole slab from Rustan’s & have it cut 3/4 inch). Knowing these are growing boys with bottomless pits for tummies, I added pasta, pizza from Motorino’s (yum!), and several pies from Neil’s Kitchen (nagsasawa na ba kayo marinig ito hahaha).

My Babyson’s constants at parang mga anak ko na rin. I saw them turn from lanky high school boys to full-grown men! The fact that they treat ours as their second home gives me joy. I love having them over kahit na malalakas silang kumain at ang iingay nila hahaha! 😛 Noise & laughter makes for a happy home indeed.

Next year, I am really REALLY committing to getting back into the groove & getting us matching costumes. Kahit yung ganito man lang, basta’t terno-terno kami. I googled & found some that I will make sure to order 6 months before the halloween special 2019 edition.

(L) Since we have a tropical country, ang hirap talaga mag-costume at sobrang init. These kooky aprons are perfect to put on over normal clothes, just to get the the spirit of things, dontcha think? 😉 (M) That’s kuya Rolly as a Cheeto, lol. I love how he’s so game! (R) Maybe next year, if I can find these online, we can go as chocolates or candies. ;)) Or better yet, PIGS! #oink

Special shout out to my reader PHOEBE. I’m so happy we got to meet kahit na short time lang kasi ang daming kotse sa paligid at bumubusina hehe. I actually prepared a loot bag for her daughter, but sadly, lack of time & energy prevented us to meet sa bahay. Hopefully next year! 😉

Dear Phoebe & Amber, if you gals happen to be in the village at any time, ring our bell lang to claim. Or I can bring the loot bag to your aunt’s house. No pressure, just message me. :-* It was really great meeting you both! <3

Trick or Treat! :-*

so aliw, may special insider kame sa AAV.haha make a separate blog for the chismax.lol I admire you Ms Jane for being so game and accommodating to events like this. i understand the concerns coming from the home owners, but what they dont see is that for those *outsiders, if not all eh most of them come from the mejo not privileged sector. yung mga parents they want their kids to experience trick or treating without needing to shell out an amount like what they require in hotels and malls. Once a year lang yan pero the joy it bring them lalo na yung mga treats na luxury na yun for them. Also, its really nice to see beautiful houses and landscapes in contrast to what they see and go home to everyday. I also noticed your hubby giving the guards pang-merienda, pati sila may treat! You and your family are blessed because you know how to share. and lastly, im so drooling over those pies.huhuhu Been dreaming to dine at Neil’s for the longest time since Ive read about it in your blog but super layo, baka mas mahal pa ang gas kesa sa maging meal ko.hehe (Ive been a silent reader for so long, im even one of those readers na you so generoulsy send ebooks to).God bless you and your family Ms Jane.
