Taking advantage of the fresh sushi & sashimi while we can, we decided to head off to Tsukiji Market again today to eat some favorites, and to also go back for those we didn’t get to sample, such as the Tsukiji-famous noodle soup na grabe ang pila!
Chuka Soba Inoue sells Ramen at the Tsukiji Outer Market, you can’t miss it kasi yung pila paikot talaga parang ahas! This tiny stall has standing-only tables ON THE STREET & has been in business for fifty years. There is only one kind of ramen being sold that is made from chicken and soy sauce broth, has thin noodles, and is topped with slices of pork, menma (bamboo shoots), green onions, and kaiware (daikon sprouts). The soup is light and a good start to the morning.
Normally, nasusuka kami sa ramen because of the super oily broth, but this one was light yet still filling and perfect for a cold morning.
I also fell in love with my new discovery: pickled tako sashimi marinated in vinegar & mixed with wasabi. Diba wala naman talagang lasa ang octopus? But with this special marinade, tapos ang lutong pa nung pugita, homaygas ang linamnam, kalurkey!

After having our fill, we went off to explore & landed at the old-school Tokyo, Nakamise Dori for some souvenir & pasalubong shopping. A little further up the road & we found ourselves at the Asakusa Shrine – one of Tokyo’s most colorful and popular temples, and also one of the most famous Shinto shrines in the city. The shrine’s main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple. Although we don’t believe in fortune-telling (100 yen per reading), Babyson got his fortune read here just for fun. ;P Good thing he got a best daikichi or “excellent luck” (out of 7 types ranging from best to worst) for a result. Even if we don’t believe, syempre nakakakilabot pa rin to hear about bad news diba.
Also near the area is the Tokyo Skytree, so do visit it. The kids didn’t want to go up anymore to see the Tokyo skyline, so we just had a brief photo op in front of the building for posterity. #lookup
It’s another steak night for us as Babyson took us to Red Rock in Harajuku for dinner- as recommended by his lovey dovey. <3 Home of Kobe Beef, homaygas walang halong biro, ubod ng sarap. And so affordable too (a large roast beef bowl costs only around 500 php!), Kap-approved. YOU MUST TRY IT!! Mej rare sya na roast beef na sobrang malasa huhu. Kap is strict when it comes to my rice intake kaya I got the biggest portion, lol. My carnivorous craving was uber satisfied!
The girls capped off our heavenly dinner with crepes from the popular crepe place in Tokyo, Santa Monica Crepes. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not an American crepe chain. Harajuku’s Santa Monica Crepes is as Japanese as the rest of the crepe shops in the area & serves both the sweet & savory variety.
