Even though I’m a February baby & born under the Pisces sign, I’m the first to admit that I’m the least creative & artistic person in the world, zomg. As in wala talaga akong kahilig-hilig o interes man lang sa art. BUT! I have to admit, when Ate took us to see teamLab PLANETS, I was AMAZED beyond belief & I actually appreciated every room that we experienced -from start to finish!
Tickets are priced at Php 1.5k each just like the previous teamLab Borderless we went to (super magkaiba sila, pramis). But this one is really AMAZEBALLS! So I highly suggest that you make Planets a part of your Tokyo Itinerary if you are going there this year.
teamLab Planets Tokyo, which opened summer of 2018 & unfortunately runs only until fall (September) of 2020, is a one-of-a-kind art facility in Toyosu. It is a museum where you move majority through water. It consists of 4 vast exhibition spaces at its center, and 7 works of art. The artworks are based on the “Body Immersive” concept. Visitors enter the museum barefoot (lockers & shorts are provided for free), and become immersed with other visitors.

Pagpasok pa lang namin, I heard Babyson exclaim WHOOOA in delight! Syempre naman na-koryus agad ako so takbo Jane takbo! You start your TeamLab Planets experience by walking up towards the lit waterfall while water gently runs down the slope that Kap noticed is amoy-chlorine. So I’m guessing it’s teamLab’s way of “sanitizing” visitors’ feet para hindi magka-hawaan ng buni at alipunga hehe. This is called the (1) Waterfall of Light Particles.
Then you have to go through the (2) Soft Black Hole (there’s a separate entrance for PWD guests who can’t navigate through the black hole – make sure you ask the guide for assistance). Kwartong madilim sya na ang sahig is made out of soft, lumpy material. Best way to describe it is it’s like walking on marshmallow. The trick is to WALK and not crawl. At first I tried crawling, feel ko talaga mamamatay ako sa atake sa puso hehe. Then Kap pulled me up & advised me to lean on the wall for support & walk by treading slowly but surely towards the exit. Salamat Kap my Kap! Akala ko hindi na ako makakalabas forever! ;)) It was super fun though!
Then it’s the (3) Infinite Crytal Universe (meron din ito aktali sa Borderless, pero other than this light feature, magkaiba na talaga sila). It’s like dying & going to heaven as you are immersed in such beautiful lights from the sparkly crystals. Saan ka man tumingin, puro ilaw – ito yata yung nae-experience ng mga pumapanaw, no joke. I had to force myself to say: JANE, DO NOT GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT. YOU MUST STILL LIVE FOR KAP & THE KIDS! ;))
(4) is my absolute favorite, the Dance of Koi. This watery area is knee-deep and you are surrounded by color.. and KOI! <3 Para kang nakatayo in the middle of a Koi pond & it’s even interactive. When you dip your hand in the water to try to “touch” a fish, it magically transforms into a flower!
Within the area is a small room so make sure you don’t go out right away lest you miss it! the (5) Cold Life.
(6) is the Free-Floating na puro balloons. When you touch a balloon, nag-iiba ng kulay ng buong kwarto. Tuwang-tuwa si Kap dito! Hawak dito hawak doon ang mama, nagka-migraine tuloy ako sa bilis at daming palit ng kulay 😛
and last but not the least is the (7) Falling Universe of Flowers. Dapat nakahiga ka dito para masilayan mo ang digital artwork na naka-display sa kisame. Different kinds of flowers span across the infinite universe, sarap pagmasdan habang magka-holding hands, para kang nagsastar-gazing except ito, flower-gazing lol.
Sobrang sulit itong teamLab Planets, promise. Mas nagustuhan ko sya ng major major kesa sa Borderless. #differentstrokesfordifferentfolks A MUST-SEE talaga, so hurry & buy your tickets online na at laging ubos!
Isang sakay lang from the venue at Odaiba na, kaya kahit super lamig, tiniis na naming pumunta para makapagpa-peechur peechur sa may Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge, which is 798 metres long & a span of 580 metres, is a suspension bridge crossing northern Tokyo Bay between Shibaura Pier and the Odaiba waterfront development in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. The supporting towers of the bridge have been painted white, but they are lit up at night in rainbow colors in December, giving the bridge its nickname. It is officially known as the Tokyo Bay Connector Bridge though. And the lights are charged during the day by solar panels.
So ayun, makulay lang sya sa gabi which is why visitors like us take photo ops. Daming Pinoy that night, kaya may group pic kaming GOppets. <3 (Kuya, pa-peechur naman kameeee..)
Since it was New Year’s Day, halos lahat ng resto, sarado. Buti nalang Babyson is maabilidad & he was able to find this yakiniku resto in Toshima na sinadya talaga naming puntahan at tahakin, otherwise tinapay lang at cheese wiz ang dinner namin!
Yakiniku Gyu in Toshima is a highly-rated Yakiniku place that serves “A5 Rank” Japanese Black Beef at an affordable price. Dahil New Year naman at huling gabi na namin sa Japan, feeling generous si Kap at pinabayaan na kaming umorder.
What a perfect way to end a perfect day. How sad though that our Tokyo adventure has come to an end. Gotta pack, see you guys tom for our huling hirit in Ja-Fun! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
