Being first-timers, we were so clueless on what adventures we could find in Pagudpod. Kap booked us for an overnight stay anyway since it was (somewhat) close na to Vigan. Travel time from Vigan to Pagudpod takes around 3 hours & 30 minutes.

Pagudpod is said to be famous for its pristine white sands and its almost un-commercialized area, so it’s perfect for a real getaway from the hustle & bustle of city life if you’re into solace.

Beach daw, di sige. My water babies love the sea so this would be a good adventure. Except we didn’t realize that due to the 5-day holiday, the beach would be littered with SO MANY trash & SO MANY people!
Silver lining was Kap didn’t get us rooms in Hannah Beach Resort, oh that would have been a terrible mistake. Ang daming tao sobra, nagkalat, as in. And the dinosaurs, I can’t even begin to tell you about the dinosaurs all over the grounds, lol! Major kabakyaan moment.

The resort would have been fine without all those tacky life-size decors strewn all over the place. Sayang. Maybe little kids would enjoy the mala-Jurrasic Park grounds if they just stuck to ONE theme, I don’t know.

Mabuti nalang Kap was advised by his friend Raul to book our stay at the neighboring Kapuluan Vista Resort. Remote, yes. But so much better & private compared to the uber crowded & tacky-looking Hannah Beach Resort. 😛
(The video below is so stupid because I forgot to turn off the cam, so candid yanat kung saan-saang direksyon nakatutok, pagpasensyahan nyo na, hahaha! At least I can prove I’m nice talaga even off-cam! ;P)

At first glance, and looking at the website, I’d choose Hannah in a heartbeat because of the many water & land activities offered. But after closer inspection, I really thank my lucky stars that we didn’t end up there.

Kapuluan Vista Resort
Sitio Baniaran, Barangay Balaoi, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte Philippines 2919; call or text 0920 952 2528 | 63 (02) 697-6597 | 63 (77) 676-0075 or email at kapuluan_vista_resort@yahoo.com
View to my left & to my right from the resort proper. While it is actually situated on the oceanfront, Kapuluan Vista Resort is not on the main beach known as the “Blue Lagoon” where Hannah is located directly. But it’s just a ten-minute stroll away. We took the car going anyway, since it’s hassle to walk on the sand laden with towels & everything else then go back the same route dripping wet.
Kap got us the Deluxe with Loft. 4,750/ROOM FOR 4 PERSONS. Maximum capacity is 6 pax (550/EXTRA PERSON FEE for extra cots). Features a king size bed on the ground, queen size mattress at the loft, air-conditioned, hot/cold shower, satellite television, front/back veranda.
We had a late lunch right after checking in since we were all starving by the time we got to Pagudpod. I think traveling does that to you, parang lagi nalang kaming gutom -to Kap’s chagrin kasi nga bayad pa more. ;))
Rated #2 in Trip Advisor food-wise, we didn’t have to wander out anymore to food trip. Enjoyed our meals (and drinks) at Kapuluan Vista Resort as prepared by construction worker-turned-dishwasher-turned chef Danilo Cariasco (see picture above). He was trained by the resort owner himself, LA-raised pinoy-blooded Mike Oida of the Olas Banditos (Elyu) & Tacos Del Norte (Locos Norte) fame. So far, so good.
After that hefty lunch, it was off to the beach. What you see along the way, street vendors. Cute. I liked the refreshing ubeiskrambol I had for dessert. Ewan ko lang kung hindi ako ma-Hepa A! 😉
We went to Hannah Beach Resort for the “Blue Lagoon” beach directly in front of the property. Saksakan ng dami ng tao though, so we went to the farthest end. Mabato na.
We just took some pictures para hindi naman masayang ang mahigit tatlong oras na byahe. Honestly, you could go to equally nice (or even nicer) beaches at half the distance & travel. Now we know.
It’s rocky at the farthest end, not really conducive to swimming kaya peechur-peechur nalang.
Bae & I stayed behind & had henna tattoo done so Kap wouldn’t force us to walk with him hehe. The artist charged us 100 pesos each for a basic design like the one on my Neni’s ankle.
Pagudpod is a remote probinsya so there’s really nowhere else to go & nothing else to do. We enjoyed a quiet lutong-bahay dinner at the resort then had an early night.
If you happen to find yourself in Kapuluan Vista Resort, make sure you order the spicy tuna poke, really good! \m/
Really, there is nothing to do but sleep & eat. No complaints from me there, as eating is my happiness, obviously. 🙂 Our yummy breakfast the following morning (not included in the overnight package). Kudos to the Chef for a beautifully prepared & satisfying meal.

Good thing Kap only booked an overnight stay in Pagudpod, maloloka ako sa sobrang katahimikan kung more than one day kami mag-stay, hay. Been there, done that, off to city life in Laoag. Travel time from Pagudpod to Laoag takes around 1 hour & 30 minutes.
But before that, and even though we just had a filling breakfast, we couldn’t let lunch at Berg Blick Restaurant pass. Wala nang balikan so it’s best to have all our bases covered. 😛

Lunch break at the Trip Advisor #1 rated resto in Pagudpod, BergBlick Restaurant. The German word BergBlick means mountain view. We can now say we had meals at the top 2 rated restos in Pagudpod, lol. No reason to go back.
BerBlick Restaurant is owned by German national Detlev Cotte & his Pinay wife.
Kids were craving pasta coz we’ve had all the longga & bagnet we can have for this trip, so we ended up here. No regrets, only big smiles & very full tummies. Burp. The resto is not easy to find so it’s best to use WAZE for direction.
What we had: Oven fresh crispy pork leg with saurkraut & buttered potatoes 690 php, Wienerschnitzel 295 php, Spaghetti arrabiata (basil & chili) 225 php, Spaghetti aurora (veggies & meatballs), and not to be missed, the house specialty, PINAKBET LASAGNA 375 php!
