Kearsay had a very successful Avengers Infinity War movie screening last April 28, 2018 at the SM Megamall Cinema 7 -proceeds of which are for the treatment of his mom Yolly who has stage 3 breast cancer. Mommy Yolly has 2 more treatments (she finished 16 out of 18) to go and hopefully, God willing, she will finally be declared cancer free! <3

If you don’t know who Kearsay Chenkie Low is, I posted about him HERE.

Almost 100% sold out, woohoo! \m/ And on his own, he was able to get the following sponsors who provided lootbags to the movie patrons as a small token for their invaluable support to Kearsay: Kettle Korn PH, Great Taste Coffee, C500 Juice Drink, Jack ‘n Jill, Vandarah Spa, Café and Fashion Hub, La Pâte Française Ph, Le Vin of France, and last but not least, Island Gems. This is no small feat ha, mahirap kumuha ng sponsors. I’m so very proud of him! \m/

Mommy Yolly was able to make an appearance at the screening to thank all the people who showed up & bought tickets so she can get her 16th chemo session. Kearsay happily told me how, right after he got his sweldo, he immediately took his mom shopping for this dress -yellow, the color of sunshine. It warms my heart to know that there are still sons out there who would selflessly move heaven & earth for their parent. Ang daming anak-mayaman jan na lulong sa bisyo at sagsag sa depresyon kahit halos hawak na nila ang mundo. And here is this guy, kaka-sweldo lang & he thought of taking his mom out for a treat instead of buying something for himself or going somewhere with his friends to relax! <3

As expected, the Low family have already exhausted all financial means to push through with the rest of the treatments. Prior to the Avengers Infinity War movie screening, Kearsay has valiantly spearheaded the selling of breast cancer themed t-shirts, a concert, as well as another movie screening, Beauty & the B(r)east. Kearsay is also blessed in a way that his jobs (past & current) accorded him a nice medical package which was a great help with the initial medical care.

“A young professional is exhausting all means to raise funds for the medication of his mother who was diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2-positive breast cancer last April. Kearsay Chenkie Low, who works as content analyst at Thomson Reuters, has put up a crowdfunding page online for her mother Yolly, who is set to undergo breast surgery and has to take medication for one year, as well as radiation therapy. HER2-positive breast cancer is a type of cancer that tests positive for a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor, which makes it grow more quickly than other types.” Read more: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/846821/son-seeks-help-for-mom-with-stage-3-breast-cancer#ixzz5FYwuhNVp

“For the last two years, Kearsay Chenkie Low, a 25-year-old marketing specialist, has been struggling to make enough money to pay for the treatment of his mother Yolly, who had been diagnosed with Stage 3B HER2-positive breast cancer.”  Read more: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/979868/kearsay-chenkie-low-labanyolly-breastcancer#ixzz5FYwL4MK9

I met up with him a few weeks back to discuss a collaboration. Initially, I put up a silent auction online & asked my friends to be a part of it as well. Why an auction & not just donate cash straightaway you ask? Two things.

1) It’s hard to ask money from people. Not only is it a major turn off, times are hard nowadays. People, even with the kindest of hearts & well-meant intentions, will be cautious to do away with any spare cash (not to mention hard-earned money) lest the time comes that they too will need it. Saving some for a rainy day is now a common concern, ang hirap magkasakit. So it’s really easier to ask for things they no longer need or use which we can, in turn, sell.

2) Another man’s “junk” so to speak, is another person’s treasure. Most of the branded items I was able to collect for this cause are gently used bags & shoes which fetches a ridiculously high price if you buy them brand new. This way, people who don’t mind a bit of scruff and wear & tear can own a branded item na hindi gaanong masakit sa bulsa.

Kap & the kids joined right away & gave me personal items to auction off, no questions asked. I love the support I get from my family. <3

My dear friends also joined the bandwagon, I didn’t even have to ask them twice! Special thanks to Marina Sarao, Karen Young, Med Tan, Sheila Ambray, Kim Lao, Ellen Vista, Teree Gatmaitan, Faye Cruz, Regine Corporal, Irene Co, and Leah Dy for their love & support. <3 I couldn’t ask for better friends!

While doing the auction (there are still some items up for grabs by the way. Please CLICK HERE to see what’s for sale), I racked my brain on how I can help him more. And voila, I thought of a badminton tournament! Since we already have a court, we can do away with the cost.

I then contacted my friend WILLIAM TAN GABUELO of William and William Gabuelo Badminton Academy who is a badminton coach & our in-house trainer to ask for his help pro-bono. He gladly accepted the task & we all went to work right away.

I know Las Piñas is far, but I hope that you’ll still come & join our fight for mommy Yolly. 🙂

I am eternally grateful to coach TUMS for agreeing to oversee the tournament free of charge! <3 May God bless you a hundredfold dearest Tums. :-*

We have scheduled the FUN TOURNAMENT on July 01, 2018 -that’s a Saturday. Price is 600 pesos only. Please join & help Kearsay raise funds for his mom Yolly. <3

I asked Kearsay if there was anyone at all in his family giving him financial aid because he seems so young to be carrying this burden alone. According to him, his 2 older sisters are married & are stay at home moms with no jobs. His youngest sister naman, whom he is also supporting, has just started College. His father meanwhile, abandoned them years ago so there’s that. And his other relatives have already given all they can, so now, it’s really just him. What a ton of weight on his reed thin shoulders. My heart was breaking the whole time we were talking.

With my frequent convos with Kearsay, I have determined that he has a heart of gold. 2 of the items for the silent auction were a fruit basket & a cake. He asked me if he can gift these instead to 2 cancer warriors who are also fighting for their lives. He could easily have just pocketed the money from the proceeds to help with the bills, but no. He still had the heart to SHARE. How can you not love this guy, right? Instead of being disheartened, he is not only valiantly fighting for him & his mom, but for other cancer patients as well! <3

It’s heartwarming to know that his trials only made him more empathic & sympathetic to other people’s needs. <3 This just proves that not all Superheroes wear costumes!

Here is YOLLY LOW’s facebook page in case you want to donate in cash or in kind. Her medicines are: Traztuzumab Herceptin, which costs around 60k/vial and she needs at least 2 per chemo treatment. Plus the oral chemo Anastrozole which costs around 8k/box. Even cash donations as little as 50 pesos goes a long way when pooled together. I so pray that God will touch our hearts so that we may be able to help according to our capacity. <3

Meet the fun & full of life Mommy Yolly..
