“Sweetheart, halos magkasing-presyo lang ang local at international flights. Saan ba mas gusto mo for Holy Week, Indonesia o Palawan?”

Me (isip isip): Hmnnn, Palawan = beach & nature. Sige, Indonesia nalang. Parehong mainit pero at least ang Jakarta eh city, lol.

The giblings googled “what to do/see in Indonesia”. Waley! Good thing Ate was able to research Yogyakarta, where the beautiful temples are. So out of the 5 days, 2 we will spend in Yogyakarta. The rest, chillax lang in Jakarta.

Yogyakarta (often called “Jogja”) is a city on the Indonesian island of Java known for its traditional arts and cultural heritage. Its ornate 18th-century royal complex, or kraton, encompasses the still-inhabited Sultan’s Palace. Also within the kraton are numerous open-air pavilions that host classical Javanese dance shows and concerts of gamelan music, characterized by gongs, chimes and plucked string instruments.

Spent the better part of our day in & out of airports. Travel time from Manila to Jakarta takes almost 4 hours. The plane to Yogakarta got delayed so we had 5.5 hours to kill at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Good thing BDO gave us 4 free key lounges to enjoy as a reward from our previous travel, kung hindi, pipiyok na naman si Kap kung magbabayad kami ng USD 40 each para magamit ang Sapphire Lounge.

Got to Yogya at around 6PM, tamang tama for dinner, then rest na to get us ready for the next day. As you very well know, @_@ Ate has a tendency to overkill when traveling. Buti nalang pagod din sya from her just-concluded LU trip with the hoes, kaya mega lowbatt sya kinabukasan – which was our trip out. 😉
As recommended by our hotel driver, authentic Indonesian dinner at Bale Raos Royal Cuisine Restaurant on our first night..

Our hotel is only 6 years old, but it looks ancient. Ok lang, kasi ang importante naman malinis at malamig ang aircon – especially here in Yogya na NAPAKAINIT! However, after settling down & Kap got in the shower, my gulay. Parang putik ang tubig! I guess because there are so many hotels here in Yogya, hindi masyado nagagamit the rooms we had the misfortune to occupy. Mabait naman ang front desk at nilipat din kami agad.

As usual, Ate has a full itinerary planned for us tomorrow, signing off now. Ang lagkit ko naaaah, grabeh!
