#GOsaka2018 Day 13

Teaser..

The early wake-up call for USJ yesterday, the excitement over the rides & attractions, plus the all-day, all-night walking around the park took a toll on us so we agreed to take it easy the following day (today) for the Osaka Aquarium. What we can see, we will. What we can’t, well, there are other aquariums, we don’t need to see all the fishies in one go.

Woke up without an alarm blaring, and took our time getting ready. It was almost noon when we finally felt oriented to leave the aparment. Chilliest day by far at 3 degrees! Brrrr. Weather says tomorrow may go as low as 1!! Ang tatamad pa naman nilang magsuot ng mga thermal na binili ko, panira daw sa #ootd. The 2 girls, after I nag them, they relent. But the 2 boys, napakatitigas ng ulo ayaw magsipag-suot. Gusto daw namnamin ang lamig kasi pauwi na kami. Tapos kalagitnaan, nanginginig at sisipunin. What’s a mother to do diba? Of course I worry! Mga pasaway! So yeah, today, they left their thermals home again -stress sa chest! @_@

As always, our Superhero went out & bought more breakfast supplies to feed his takaw army of 5 haha. Then it was off to start our day.

Bae requested for tempura & saw online that Tempozan Marketplace, the food court nearest the aquarium, had some so doon na kami nag-lunch para hindi pabalik-balik. We wasted enough time dilly-dallying as it is.

Upon reaching Tempozan Marketplace (which by the way also has an indoor petting zoo AND an indoor LEGO® Playground/Lego Discovery Center -perfect stopover for young kids on your way to the Aquarium), Kap & the kids scoured the area to find food that will interest them – and believe me, there are PLENTY. <3

Right within the Tempozan Marketplace is Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho, a food theme park that recreates the nostalgic 1960s streets of Osaka. About 20 well-known, venerable Osaka eateries offer their fare, including takoyaki by Aizuya, and iconic curry rice by Jiyuken. Local favorites such as kushikatsu and ikayaki are also available. Make sure you get your food selection from this area instead of the food court which offers more of western choices..

Tempozan Marketplace is a commercial complex adjacent to Kaiyukan. Designed under the concept of “Festival Marketplace,” the complex (which includes the Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho strip) consists of nearly 80 retail and dining establishments including shops carrying Osaka souvenirs as well as anime and other character merchandise, fashion boutiques, restaurants, and a food theme park focusing on Osaka cuisine.

Meanwhile I headed to KFC & Wendy’s for some sammies. Nagsawa na ako sa rice toppings- that, or I may just be be homesick subconsciously. 😛

Also made a dessert stopover at Milky Soft Cream for some milky, creamy soft serve as per suggested by one of my long-time readers. Thank you so much dearest Erika for recommending this stop. Suuuper enjoyed the creamy soft serve, pati si Kap na-impress (and you know he is not easy to please!). Two thumbs up! \m/

If you are fond of MILKY candy (or white rabbit here in the Philippines), you will soooo love the creamy, milky, soft serve ice cream by MILKY. <3 The creamiest we had by far!

Finally headed to the Osaka Aquarium. But may kaguluhang nagaganap! We were not allowed to enter huhu. Turns out we were supposed to claim our e-tickets from either the airport, or Namba station!

Pakshet, I had the print-outs all along & OC me didn’t even bother to read it. Kaineeeeez! Buti nalang Kap didn’t get mad at me huhu. He is really so patient & kind, wala nang tatalo pa sa kabaitan ng asawa ko. Had the situation been reversed, he would’ve already heard a mouthful from me hehe. He & Ate volunteered to go to Namba station to get the tickets. #luckymewifey #luckymemommy Ansaveh? Ako na talaga ang pinakamaswerteng nilalang sa buong mundo diba?

It was unbelievably cold that day -the day these two chose NOT to wear the thermals I bought! But still, they braved the weather & ran as quickly as possible to Namba to claim our prepaid tickets dahil masasayang if we let the day pass (thanks to stupid me)!

It’s a good thing Osaka Aquarium doesn’t need a whole day for exploration. We got admitted at around 4 & finished the tour in 3 hours. Thank you again Kapitan K & WW! :-*

When I was younger & my mom took us to aquariums abroad, I would always balk at going under tunnels because I always imagined the glass would break & the sharks would eat me alive. If you look closely at what my Babyson is staring at though, the acrylic glass used is super thick, impossible to break kahit pa hampasin ng hammerhead, lol. So now my fear of glass tunnels has been laid to rest. 😛

A biologist is a scientist who studies life, specifically organisms and their relationship to their environment. And right there, ladies & gentlemen, are 2 eager-beaver biologists! UST College of Science represent hahaha! Nakadikit na talaga ang mga mukha nila sa salamin!

Believe it or not, the tanks used in this aquarium are made of 314 tonnes (346 tons) of acrylic glass. The largest single pane measures six meters by five meters by thirty centimeters and weighs roughly 10 ton. I wonder what these beautiful sea creatures are thinking when they see humans watching them closely.

This seal (L) was pretty playful & stayed a while to interact with the giblings. I never knew my kids were so very interested in the marine life. They were really into it, to my amazement.

Make sure you don’t miss the interactive station where you can actually TOUCH the sea creatures. Kap & the giblings had a blast. As you will notice, KJ me was contented just taking their pics & videos.

We were out by 7pm. Kap’s order from Tokyo arrived at the Osaka store so he & Babyson went there to claim it. Meanwhile, the firstborn finally found this Dior shoe in her size – well a size smaller but it’ll do I guess.

Ate is size 9.5 (Bae is 9) so she always has a hard time finding her shoe size, especially in asian countries. She has better luck with UK/US stores.

As you can see, Kap is VERY happy with his treasures, thanks to Babyson who helped him score! Nung una ayaw pa nya kasi mahal, but our Babyson was insistent. So now, feeling Federer na ang mahal ko, teehee.

With happy hearts & important purchases accounted for, we met up for dinner at a place we passed by the other day as we were changing train stations. The Tempura display (and the price point) impressed us that we decided to try this resto today. Did not disappoint! <3

I love restaurant displays! <3 Most of the menus are in Japanese, so I’m happy when I find displays by the window I can just point at!

This one is a daddy’s girl through & through. She knows Bae & I disappointed Kap with our costly purchases, so she went under the radar in buying her Dior shoes as to maintain her “good girl points” with Kap. She cleverly hid her haul in a sack bag so he wouldn’t see it & was SUPER nice to her Dad the entire evening (with me mocking her the whole time of course, teehee). Ayan oh, nagaalok pa ng pastry puff eh alam naman nya hindi kumakain ng anik-anik ang Daddy nya -SIPSIP!! ;))

The name of the resto was in Japanese so unfortunately, I can’t tell you where we had dinner, but everything we ordered were really oh so good (and dirt cheap too!)

All of us were able to buy our #shoppinggoals except for my Babyson. He wants to keep his pocket money to pimp up his car kaya so far, he has only made some minor purchases with the cash we gave him. Hay, buhay binata, ang daming paandar.

That’s it for now, sobra nang haba. Sayonara. :-*
