Day 23
—
We are such slowpokes. Sleeping right now seems more delectable than going around. Lalo na at malamig ang panahon. 😛 Inabot na kami ng katamaran with just 7 more days to go into our journey. Wala na kasi ang commander-in-chief namin kaya wala nang taga-tulak. Kailangang gumalaw-galaw din pag may time, sayang naman ang biyahe! 😛
God is good all the time though, it’s a clear, crisp morning today. Made sure to remember to have our family prayer before leaving our apartment this time around so things will go smoother for us than usual. 😉

Day trip to Lucerne
Nestled within the heart of Central Switzerland, the city of Lucerne beckons travelers to come visit its gorgeous mountain vistas and verdant countryside. Lucerne itself is home to a series of contrasts between the historic old and the vibrant new, with ancient buildings set side by side with modern monuments.

Kapel Bridge & River Reuss. The Kapellbrücke (literally, Chapel Bridge) is a covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss River in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Named after the nearby St. Peter’s Chapel, the bridge is unique because it contains a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with most of the centuries-old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe, as well as the world’s oldest surviving truss bridge. It serves as the city’s symbol and as one of Switzerland’s main tourist attractions.

Got to Lucerne just in time for lunch. I’ve been harping about eating raclette that Kap finally gave in. Our english comprehension is different from theirs. When I asked “for how many persons is an order of raclette good for?” She answered 2. Ok I said “2”. Yun pala ang intindi nya sa tanong ko: ilang order kakasya para sa among 4 hehe. Buti nalang malamig ang panahon at malamig ang ulo ni Kap. As a punishment though binawi nya ang order kong chocolate fondue, wah! :(( Next time I’ll make sure to be clearer. Mag-sign laguage na ako, mag-drowing pa ako! 😛

Babyson wanted a souvenir from Switzerland, so we made a stopover at Victorinox. I’m happy he was able to get a limited edition, Lucerne-available-only, swiss knife. \m/ Wag mo gamiting panasak sa rambulan yan ha! Tawanan ka lang ng kalaban, lol.

Up next, more sightseeing & my goal to find (and eat!) the best chocolate in Switzerland! <3 The town is truly so picturesque, if only the weather was nicer, our trip would have been perfect. At least humihinto na ang ulan at mas mahina na ang patak, unlike yesterday.

Lion Monument. The Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, is a rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland, designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris.

Glacier Garden Museum. Here you can learn about ice and glaciers, and many interesting facts about Central Switzerland during the Ice Age. Not actually on our itinerary, we just sought shelter when the rain poured as it was right beside the Lion monument. But since we were already there, we might as well go in, right? 😉
Napasubo tuloy si Kap sa entrance fee! Adults CHF 15 or 750 php/person. Seniors / disabled (IV) / students CHF 12. Children (age 6 to 16 years) CHF 8.

Bucherer. Since 1888, Bucherer has been a leading retailer of luxury watch brands. Apart from its own Carl F. Bucherer watch brand, the company represents many other renowned brands. And with over 1300 different models to choose from, Bucherer also stocks the largest selection of Rolex watches anywhere.

Ended our day with a mediterranean dinner. Pati si Kap sumuko na sa chinese food. Wala akong shopping today, hindi ginanahan, teehee. Dapat pala bukas mag-shopping ako kawawa naman kasi sya. ;P

Don’t worry Kap my Kap, Milan na tayo tomorrow. Land of leathergoods. Mooooo.. mooomimili talaga ako. Do Not Worry. Babalik ang appetite mo hehe! ;))
PS: I must admit in all honesty though, this was the worst decision I made. Hindi sulit ang Swiss adventure namin. I should have listened to Kap & taken this out of our itinerary. Sobrang mahal ng pamasahe, way over our budget for just a 2-day adventure na puro ulan. Sorry honey. :'(
