Ate never fails to make life exciting for me, especially when it comes to food trips. She knows I like trying new restos, more so the themed ones. So she is forever on the lookout for places that will interest me & make me happy. Oh how she loves me. 🙂 #grateful
For our recent trip to Davao, she did some last minute light detective work & googled places we can visit. Restos not available in Manila. Hole in the wall eateries that can only be found in Davao. We were ready to try anything & everything on our short trip.
When she told me about a place that served ALL THINGS bananas, I got excited. It’s year of the monkey, people! How timely, right? 😉 Besides, the Davao Region is the main producer of bananas, so what could possibly go wrong? Just imagine all the dishes they came up with incorporating the banana as an ingredient, and how many ways banana can be served! Wowoweee!
Buti nalang mahilig kaming pareho ni Kap sa saging..

See? ;)) Me & my monkey. Hahaha!

Saging Repablik
Tionko Ave. Corner V. Mapa Street, Davao City, Philippines (082) 285 9648
We had quite a looong day, mukha na kaming mga tuyo’t na saging by the time the sun set, so we were ready to cap off our day with a quick but filling dinner at Saging Repablik (ya gotta say it like it spells.. Reee-Paaab-Lik! ;))

Our driver proved useful in more ways than one. Ok din syang tour guide ha! We never got lost & he knew all the places we mentioned. Plus, he gave us useful tips & information. Sulit! 🙂
FYI..
Another FYI.. 😉 Banana is good for you & me!
No frills. Just saging all the way.
Need to go to the loo? Latundan ka ba o Lakatan? 😛
The bathroom situation, writings on the wall. Hmmnnn.. entertainment while you do your thing. Hindi mo na kailangan magdala ng babasahin, trololol.
Saging Repablik goes all Sagingese cuisine, first I’ve ever heard -or tasted!
Create Your Own Bananacue for only 55 php -sweetness overload with either caramel, chocolate, or white chocolate dip, and topped with any 3 choices from the available selection. Yum! <3
Gigingka (saging na bibingka). Now this is a GEM! So yummy that we bought several to take back to our hotel to munch on later when we got hungry.
My tablemates found this odd because it wasn’t the sweet kind. Sanay sila sa matamis na banana chips. I liked it though because it was salty which meant lower sugar content (right??), just like any ordinary potato chips, except obviously, this is made from bananas. 😛
Pardon the photos, the lighting in the resto was really REALLY bad.. Kap’s Spareribs with Banana Barbecue Sauce 245 php. If you’re familiar with Bannaple, the food at Saging Repablik tastes similar to the ones served there.
Lovey’s Beef Tapa with Egg 195 php.
My Seafood Salpicao 240 php.
Relyenong Bangus 210 php.
Ate’s Fish & Chips 200 php.
Mom’s Bangus Sinigang 168 php.
Chickenana Pops 200 php.
My Babyson’s Sisag (sisig with saging) 180 php. Comes with rice -just not included in the photo.
The Goin’ Bananas crew. 😛
And again, the star of the night -this yummy Giginka which served as our appetizer, dessert, and take home! ;)) That’s how good it was. Promise.

I was going to end this post with a mediocre banana joke, but then again, you’d probably throw banana peels my way with the kabaduyan haha. Kaya wag nalang. 😛
AHAHAAAAY!
-pengeng gigingka, Jane! hehehe
-iba talaga ang presyo ng mga restos outside MM; actually, outside BGC, Makati and Pasig, biglang mura na ng presyo sa restos.
