The family is growing, with new cast members being added to the GOppets crew from time to time. Our usual table of 5 is now a big table of 8-9 since Mom came to live with us. Of course if she goes, MIL also has to come. And if there are 2 senior citizens on foot, their caregivers are not far behind. So isa kaming mahaba-habang prusisyon!
We are like the Brady Bunch now (hala, my age is showing!), and each trip becomes more & more like an excursion of sorts, lol! 😛
For my birthday dinner, we decided to branch out further from our comfort zone, but not so far that the 2 senior citizens would get tired from the trip. Our late dinner was already past their bedtime as it was, lol. But of course I had to spend my natal day & celebrate it with my mom. BGC was perfect because traffic is not so bad, and there are plenty of parking space available.

Pretty soon we have to exchange mom’s van for a 10-wheeler! 😛 We can all barely fit now, if travelling with a driver in tow.
Actually, I had a hidden agenda why I chose BGC, hehe. I wanted Kap to buy me a Pandora charm for my bracelet. Sure, I can buy on my own & fill it up instantly, but then, where’s the thrill & sentimental value, right? The nostalgia comes from the fact that the charms will all be coming from Kap my Kap with every occasion, so there’s a love story behind every charm. Buti nalang at nauto ko sya! 😛
A dainty silver birthday cake charm to start off my collection. I can’t wait for special occasions to start trickling in, adding more to my very bare bracelet. I am not a patient woman, so this waiting game will be long & hard! 😛

The downstairs was already packed with hungry diners so we went up to the more spacious 2nd floor.
The walk in the mall coupled with the exercise up the stairs proved useful in whetting up their appetites haha. Ubos ang pagkain! ;P

Applebee’s appetizers simply shouldn’t be missed whether you’re dining in alone or with a big group. We indulged in a few favorites before proceeding to our main meals. This was something new for the lolas -not the traditional food they are more used to, so we were eager for them to try. Patok na patok ang Green Bean Crispers! \m/
Sweet Potato Fries and Dips 195 php. Deep fried sweet potato served with BBQ bacon ranch, maple sauce and sriracha chili-lime dip. Pasado sa mga lola!
Wonton Taco Appetizer 225 php | Bar Snack 195 php. Spicy chicken-stuffed wonton shells, cole slaw and cilantro.
Sriracha Shrimp Appetizer 445 php | Bar Snack 295 php. Crispy shrimp coated with rich and creamy sriracha chili-lime dip. Not for the faint-hearted as this packs a pretty mean punch. Purrfect for me though as I like things hot, hot, HOT!
Green Bean Crispers 195 php. Battered and fried green beans, lemon aioli.
I have to warn you, the main meals are HUGE, good for sharing. But evidently, not for the hungry GOppets! 😛
4-Cheese Mac and Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders 385 php. Cavatappi pasta covered with rich 4- cheese cream sauce tossed with bacon and bell peppers. Topped with chicken tenders glazed with honey pepper sauce.
Quesadilla Burger 525 php. Juicy burger with signature Mexi-ranch sauce with pico de gallo and shredded lettuce served with a unique Jack and cheddar quesadilla. Loved this the first time, loved it again on m 2nd time at Applebee’s!
Chicken Tenders 375 php. Tender and breaded chicken, served with with corn on the cob, fries and cole slaw.
Fiesta Lime Chicken 395 php. Grilled chicken done fiesta-style with zesty lime sauce. Mexi-ranch and Jack-cheddar. Served with crisp trotilla strips, Mexi-rice and freshly-made pico de gallo.
Miso Salmon 695 php. Pan seared salmon served on a bed of fresh baby bok choy, sliced mushrooms, and roasted tomatoes, drizzled with a miso basil sauce. Served with white rice.
USDA House Sirloin 975 php. USDA house sirloin is marbled for more flavor. Served with seasonal vegetables and your choice of garlic mashed potatoes or baked potato.

Applebee’s has the UNDER 600 CALORIES MENU! Of course it wasn’t for me. Nope, birthdays meant a day (or 2) of excuse from diet. But Ate LOVED this option & can’t wait to try out the rest, not a surprise! 😉
Now for those on a strict diet, going out with your friends doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your night out on the town. Just choose from any of the 4 items below & eat without the guilt. I wish I could say the same for me, lol!

Under 600 calories: Ate‘s Thai Salad in Chicken 325 or Shrimp 425. Edamame, almonds and an oriental salad blend are tossed with chili lime vinaigrette. Topped with wonton strips, peanut sauce and fresh cilantro.
