Holy Week found us just lounging at home. To leave the confines of our home sweet home on a public holiday was, for me, suicidal. lol. Penitensya redefined. The traffic alone to just about anywhere is a killer. So we sequestered ourselves in our little piece of heaven.

I try to make days at home fun & entertaining for the kids by plying them with food & toys so they don’t find a need to leave the nest, and just be content hanging out with me all day long haha. ;)) Madayang mommy!

To make it up to the lack of kaganapan the previous week, we checked into Discovery Primea for a couple of days of lounging the weekend after (Araw ng Kagitingan). Ate has been putting in more than 12-hour schooldays lately that she deserved this decadent staycation. So officially, the weekend was for her to just sleep, eat, repeat. ;P
Posh is as posh goes.
Our hotel of choice this time around was the 3 year old Discovery Primea of the Discovery Suites Boracay fame. Discovery Primea is a 68-storey residential tower (6-Star Luxury Serviced Apartment) and one of the tallest buildings in the Philippines located in Makati along Ayala Avenue.
It stands on the former Gilarmi Apartments, one of the earliest urban residential condominiums built in the Makati Central Business District.
Checking in was easy peasy, which is one of the things I look for in a hotel. No long lines, and not too crowded with weekend revellers. Because Discovery Primea is primarily a residential tower with only 150 rooms in the building delegated as hotel suites, there weren’t a lot of people queueing to check in the weekend we were there.
Rooms are categorized as follows: the 40 sqm. Business Flat, the 53 sqm. Business Suite, the 74 sqm. Executive Suite which features a spacious living room, a separate dining area with a fully-furnished kitchen, and the 94 sqm. Primea Suites which is where we stayed because it had 2 bedrooms – perfect for our family of 5. <3 Plus a cozy living room for my Babyson to crash with his Xbox, a small dining area, and a fully-furnished kitchen with washing machine! Room rate for our 2-bedroom suite starts at around 16k++ depending on the day & season.
Upon checking in, we were asked by Guest Services if we wanted some complimentary refreshments before being guided to our suite. Wow, something new with our experience checking in, what a pleasant surprise! Especially having just come in from the summer heat. Oh yes please! Most definitely. <3

The Gilarmi Lounge serves Filipino-inspired bar fare, high tea, light snacks and draught beers from around the world. The lobby bar pays homage to the Gilarmi Apartments, the building which once stood where the Hotel now rises.

After catching our breath with some spritz & meringues, we headed up to start our luxurious weekend. \m/ We so loved our cozy room! I’ve been telling the fam we should just rent out our 6-bedroom house & live in a condo instead so we can use the added rental income to travel more, but they are wildly resisting the temptation (for now). Looking around our Primea Suite, we can definitely survive in a smaller scale version of Home. Cozier & less floor space pa to clean. Maybe someday. 😉

The Primea Suite was perfect for our family of 5. Babyson wanted his own space so we asked for an extra bed to be placed in the living area instead of the 2nd bedroom with his 2 sisters. (Big boy na daw sya, trololol)

After a short nap, because yeah, we were there to just sleep & eat the long weekend away, we headed down to Tapenade for dinner. Restaurant Tapenade has just launched its Salad Room! Salad buffet to compliment your ala carte meal, just perfect for me & my insatiable fam. The Salad Room features the best of Mediterranean salami and traditional charcuterie and a wide collection of cheeses, homemade antipasti, soup, breads, pickles, preserves and fresh fruits. All for 780++ php!

Tapenade is located on the Lobby level of Discovery Primea, and is open from 6 to 10:30 am for breakfast, 11 AM to 3 PM for lunch, and 6 to 11 PM for dinner. With their #ThrowbackThursday offering, guests can enjoy the healthy options at the Tapenade Salad Room for the opening day price of only Php 620++!
Popular items in the Tapenade menu are the perfectly cooked as you can see (L) 500 g. Porcini-Crusted U.S. Angus Rib-Eye Steak served with arugula, balsamic, parmigiano-regianno priced at 3,600.00 | and (R) the 700 g. Bistecca alla Fiorentina Grilled served with asparagus, potatoes limonata, roasted mushrooms, yomatoes and garlic 2,600. Both are good to share. <3 The kids loved the mushroom flavored rib eye while I set my eye on the Bistecca. Both are really good so I strongly recommend these to add to your Salad Buffet.
What can I say? He’s one happy boy hahaha. Also on the table & new on the menu, the Roasted Tomato & Mozzarella Risotto 440 php (coz the boys just can’t do away without rice), and desserts. I highly recommend the Manchego cheesecake 390 php with fresh imported berries & coulis. And the Gianduja cake 360 php. Chocolate-hazelnut mousse with crunchy praline & salted caramel banana topping.

After a good night’s rest, it’s buffet breakfast at Tapenade. We could certainly get used to this lifestyle of KTR (kain-tulog-repeat). 😉

Breakfast in bed is available. But why limit your choices when the world is your oyster? Buffet all the way for us hangry GOppets. ;))

There are 2 pools in Discovery Primea. One (behind the screen to the right) is for the exclusive use of the residents, and the other (photo above) is for the hotel guests.
Discovery Primea has the biggest gym we have seen at any local hotel by far. There’s a left wing & also a right wing connected. I guess it’s to accommodate not just the hotel guests, but the serviced apartment residents as well.

Sunday is church day, not to be missed. This is something that Kap has ingrained in the hearts & minds of our children. From the time they were little, we always went to church as a family, and Sundays kept sacred. So even if we wanted to lounge some more in the comfort of our plush beds & cool, air-conditioned room, we forced ourselves to haul our lazy asses off to church for some heartfelt praise & worship. God has been continuously good to our family, praise Him forevermore. <3

If you live in the Alabang area, CCF (Christ’s commission Fellowship) has services all day Sundays for your convenience. A little food for the soul goes a loooong way. 🙂 I do hope to see you there one day. <3

Not to be missed is the room service. Being spoiled to the max is the name of the game when billeted at Discovery Primea.
We were still too full from our recent buffet breakfast but we couldn’t resist the call of Tapenade’s homemade ice cream! <3 And of course, the wildly popular Stone-baked Pizza which by the way, is 50% off all weekdays from 3:00 pm -5:30 pm. \m/
