In ‘N out, around ‘N about L.A. on our 2nd to the last full day! Finally got to try In-N-Out Burger for the FIRST time ever in my 50 years of existence & several visits to the US of A!

In-N-Out Burger is an American chain of fast food restaurants with locations primarily in the Southwest and the Pacific coast. It was founded in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948 by spouses Harry & Esther Snyder.
This burger joint is ALWAYS packed! We had to wait more than 30 minutes to get seated (again, kailangan mo talagang tayuan ang tabi ng mesa at hintayin lumayas yung nakaupo – pakapalan nalang ng mukha kasi nga agawan ng mesa). I don’t know why it’s so popular when the taste is so ordinary. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed because I expected my first In-N-Out experience to be extraordinary. I mean, I’ve already waited this long, right? Pero sa totoo lang, mas masarap pa sa Shake Shack.

Walked around Beverly Hills, Melrose, and Rodeo Drive after our mediocre lunch and ogled the expensive shops. I can stay here the whole day & not be bored! Kung meron lang sana akong mahiwagang bag na hindi nauubusan ng pera noh? Alas, I kenat have everything good in life, kailangan may balance. Tama? 😉 So hanggang window-shopping nalang.

Sprinkles Cupcakes is a bakery chain established in 2005 & is considered the first cupcake bakery in L.A.. There are several outlets scattered over L.A. & we passed several in the previous days, but all Ate wanted to come to the original, which is in Beverly Hills. This ATM is a unique feature which we enjoyed trying out. The Cupcake ATM is continuously restocked day and night with a variety of freshly baked cupcakes and cookies. You can even see how it is handled from start to finish on the screen. Because we were going to walk around & lugging around a cupcake box is not ideal, we just got one to share & sample. Again, not very impressive IMHO. Parang Sonja’s back home lang ang dating.

Melrose Avenue..
Kids got some last minute shopping done at Melrose Avenue (lagi namang “last na mommy” pero wag ka, araw-araw nalang merong pahabol. Hay nako). Glossier & Sephora for more makeup & pasalubong.
Melrose Avenue is a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Los Angeles that starts at Santa Monica Boulevard & ends at Lucile Avenue in Silver Lake. Its most famous section, known as the Melrose District, is at the West End through West Hollywood and Hollywood. We came here specifically for Round Two, a secondhand store selling vintage & brand-name men’s clothing, also hard-to-find sneakers & accessories (both brand new & pre-loved).
Babyson was able to cop these brand new, limited edition Sean Wotherspoon Airmax rubber shoes at Round Two. At first, pumalag talaga ako sa presyo, lalo na si Kap hehe. Nanlaki yung mga mata at nagpupumiglas na mag-sermon. But after seeing how the price is actually doubled here in the Phils, medyo nahimasmasan na kami ng konti. Still, I think this is an exorbitant amount for a shoe that is very faddish. Henyway, kaligayahan nya yan, hindi naman mahilig mamili, so pinabayaan ko na.

Rodeo Drive..
Rodeo Drive is a two-mile-long street, primarily in Beverly Hills, California, which is known for its luxury goods stores. In 2003, Rodeo Drive was given an $18 million makeover which included widening the streets and the addition of crosswalks. The ficus trees lining the street were taken out and replaced with palm trees.
I was really hoping to score an Hermes Lindy bag on this trip, but Kap has learned from my many deceitful shopping sprees in the past & stuck to me like glue this time around. Kaya wala, umuwi akong luhaan. Hanggang look & touch nalang ako this trip, no buy! @_@ Hindi bale, there’s always online shopping naman, mwahaha. Babawi ako! 😛
Via Rodeo, a European-styled shopping concourse that resembles a movie set, sits at Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard. It’s the best place for an “I was there” photo, just below Via Rodeo sign. All the high-end shops are here, kaya ang lakas nang palpitation ni Kap habang naglalakad kami. Grabe maka-holding hands, ayaw talaga ako bitiwan kahit saglit. Pati weewee break, hindi ako hiniwalayan! :))

Beverly Hills..
Beverly Hills, a city in California’s Los Angeles county, is clearly the most famous neighborhood in L.A. and home to many Hollywood stars. It is known the world around for its unparalleled luxury. Palm-lined Rodeo Drive, Lavish hotels, unique boutiques and bustling cafes can be found in this posh area.

Somewhere in between, we met up with my BFF and her BFF. Received some sweet surprise which definitely made my day kahit na hindi ako nakapag-shopping. Portos Bakery goodies woohoo! \m/

My Julie was so sweet to drop off some goodies before her night shift at work. Instead of taking the day to rest, she went to Porto’s to buy me assorted breads & pastries huhu. With her is my replacement, lol, Cathyrine (kita mo, pati pangalan pareto pa talaga kami, hahaha!), who also hugged & greeted me like a long lost friend. Fell in love with her instantly! <3
Porto’s Bakery was born out of Rosa Porto’s love for sharing her wonderful cakes and pastries with friends and family. Rosa was born on the island of Cuba where she grew up surrounded by the smell of sweet creations made from recipes brought by her mother. Many years later, Rosa‘s life took an unexpected turn when her beloved Cuba suddenly fell victim to communism. The Porto’s made the difficult decision to leave Cuba. Out of a job, Rosa relied on her baking skills and began selling cakes out of her house for her neighbors and friends to support her family. Meanwhile, she unknowingly began to build up a great reputation and a loyal customer base. Eventually, the Porto family was granted permission to emigrate to the United States where the next chapter of their family story began. What a beautiful success story, I’ve always loved happy endings! <3 Just like Jong & Julie who have made Torrance their new home & are thriving.

And finally, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art or LACMA for some awesomeness as the sun started to set. Watta day it has been, our last full day tomorrow! Can’t believe how the time just flew by.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is an art museum located on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles. LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States & attracts nearly a million visitors annually. Of course, not being art enthusiasts (si Ate lang ang tanging naliligaw), we just took photos outside where the Urban Lights are displayed.
The Urban Light is a large-scale assemblage sculpture by Chris Burden located at the Wilshire Boulevard entrance to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The 2008 installation consists of restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s. Urban Light is composed of 202 street lamps arranged in a near grid. These mostly came from the streets of Southern California, including Hollywood, Glendale, and Anaheim, with some from Portland, Oregon. There are 16 different streetlight models represented, many of which were commissioned for particular neighborhoods and streets. The Broadway Rose, the largest and most ornate of the models, is represented by six lamps.

Like I mentioned yesterday, once we found this gem of a restaurant, we stuck to it like glue & ate here for the rest of our stay in L.A.

Php 520 for a plump & juicy duck is very hard to resist. So we put caution to the wind & ordered another one tonight. Bahala na si Batman sa cholesterol level namin hehe. Idaan nalang sa gamot! 😛
Sige guys, kain lang ng kain. Paguwi, balik lutong bahay na tayo uli.

Thank you Lord God for all the wonderful blessings & opportunities You continue to send our way. Grateful beyond words.
