Age 1-15: As siblings go, my brother & I were never close. Not like how my kids are, or more to the point, my girls. Kasi I always saw him as a competition, our parents’ favorite. #Lamna1, in a chinese family, the boys were always given more importance. And he’s always been the brighter one, the more studious one (straight honor student yan). The one who always had plenty of friends over sa bahay. For short, wallflower ako, fly in the background.

Age 15-25: Then growing up, he got a girlfriend naman. #Lamna2 iba ang boys when they have girlfriends. Just look at my Babyson. The sun, the moon, and the stars shine, set, and sparkle on the girlfriend. Goodbye Nanay, goodbye Ate. So we never got the chance to be close those years as well. Tapos may pagka-selosa pa yung first GF nya (of 8 years) so wa talaga.

Anyway, I also had my Kap, and my world was never the same. I was finally the apple of someone’s eye. I bloomed, even my personality drastically changed. It’s funny coz when I take online tests, iba ang personality ko from what is stereotyped for my zodiac sign or birth month. And that is due to Kap’s strong influence talaga. I give him full credit for who & what I am now. (Wait. Is that a good thing or bad? :P)

Age 25-now: We concentrated on building our own families & raising our brood. Plus we were thrown together in the family business so #Lamna3, friction built up with the differences of opinion & ideas. Isama mo pa ang money woes. Wala na talagang pag-asa. We were clashing cymbals.
But then, a thing I call miracle happened. And restoration began around a year or so leading to it. That’s actually how I sensed that our troubles were nearly over actually, when I felt a change in the relationship. The one thing we have been praying for all these years came to realization. And we were now allies. New BFFs. Hindi na sya masungit, lol. Nakikipag-joke na sya sa akin. 😉 May “Labyu” pa after each text message haha.

Blogging: I didn’t know he reads my blog pala. Actually even my SIL reads it daw (and maybe my niece too), silent readers lang sila hehe. *insert pabebe wave here*

So alam pala nila ang mga pinag-gagagawa ko sa buhay. One day, out of the blue, brother bear asked me paano mag-blog. Uy! Opening na ito, pagkakataon! Something in common that we can expound on.
My brother David, he’s a world traveler & a seeker of adventure. Siya yung tipo ng tao na hindi mapakali ang pwet sa isang lugar. He loves to travel -he’s been to so many places. He loves to eat out & discover new things -he knows more about cheap eats & good finds than me. And the magic word -like Kap, he LOVES budget, lol (in fact his first blog post is about his recent groupon find)! So for your travel & food ideas, do head on over to: DAVID & GOLIATH.
—
—
Why David & Goliath? Goliath was the name of his French Bulldog. Super cute their tandem coz Goliath is but a wee dog with a giant name. But unfortunately, Goliath is now in doggie heaven. :'( David & Goliath because even when faced with major obstacles, my brother always manages to come out of it stronger & better. Madami na yang pinagdaanan but by the grace of God, he doesn’t let the magnitude of the struggle defeat him, or define him. Yun din naman ang maganda sa kanya. Bukod sa ako ang Ate nya! 😛

—
So dear readers, may I ask that you give him the same love & affection that you have given me these 4 happy years? Please say “HI” to him naman over at his blog & follow his adventures. Mej nangangapa pa sya but I’ll ask him also to guest blog here soon.

September 20, 2015 at 9:33 amOh yes, Miss Jane, super look-alike! Nagulat ako when I saw your picture. Parang kambal!
September 20, 2015 at 9:07 amhahaha actually I don’t see the resemblance talaga Chel but many say we do. 🙂
September 20, 2015 at 9:33 amHi, Ms. Jane! I understand how you may have felt kasi nung mga bata kami aso’t pusa din kami ng brother ko. I always thought nga na may sariling mundo sya. Hahaha! Favorite din sya kasi only boy sya sa amin. Nung mag HS and College na lalo na kami hindi naging close. He’s the quiet and shy type kasi, me and my sister naman e maingay, outgoing. Nung magka gf, I remembered that my mom and I set up a romantic dinner for them sa roofdeck ng house namin. Naku, akala mo nasa hotel pa. I prepared the dishes from the soup to the dessert with plating pa. Hahaha! Pero lalo kami hindi naging close kasi syempre may gf na and I have my life na rin at career that time sa Manila. I remembered we started becoming close bit by bit nung nag aaply na sya for Dubai sa Manila and I had to go straight to the agency from my call center work para bigyan sya ng moral support at nang finally magkasama-sama kami magkakapatid working in Qatar. Hahaha! Now, we still don’t have the super dikit na closeness but we are more open towards each other. Kaya super relate po ako dito sa post nyo.
Anyway, I have been reading your brother’s blog too. Naka email notification din. 🙂 He writes really well and, just like you, has the knack for transporting the readers to a different realm. I hope he keeps writing and rest assured that I will support his blog too just like your other readers and friends…
September 20, 2015 at 9:10 amMismo. Gets mo talaga ako Kei. And thank you talaga for the support you give not just to me but to my entire family. God bless you! :-*
September 20, 2015 at 9:35 amI know what you mean: my sister and I were enemies for the longest time, pero bigla na lang naglaho ang poot namin sa isa’t isa nung kasal ng pamangkin ko. God really does heal relationships. It’s a good thing that ours was healed before my sister passed away. Kaya nung nagpunta ako sa ibang bansa, I made sure to really bond with my remaining sisters kasi di natin alam kung ano ang mangyayari bukas. Life is too short.
Heniways, hope to see you this week. Or kahit idaan ko lang sa isa sa mga mansiyonik mo ang aking munting pasalubong. =)
September 20, 2015 at 9:25 amHay eksaktong word ang poot niel! Kaya tayo bffs hahaha. Bataan ang kembot ko this long weekend niel but I so wanna see you ahuhuhu tara lets sama ka!!

September 20, 2015 at 4:28 pmWhat a generous and loving sister you are, Mommy Jane! I recently revisited The Purpose Driven Life and is now on Day 18. Day 16 talked about valuing, loving and prioritizing our relationships because at the end of the day, they are, indeed, what matters most. Sabi nga ni Rick Warren, “busyness is the great enemy of relationships” and relationships are best spelled with T-I-M-E.
So, so happy for you and your brother. I am thrilled and overjoyed when I see broken relationships healed. God is love and He wants us to love. Period.
And syempre, visit ko na din si David and Goliath. Biblical pa ang title. Hihihi
September 21, 2015 at 11:42 amThank you so much for your love Candy. I always did appreciate your kindness to me & my family. Love you back!! :-*
