My Kids

Clerkship

The day that I have been dreading is here, boohoo! :'(( Going into Med school, I knew this day would come. The day when Ate has to go on 36-hour rotation duty at goodness knows where. She only has 1 day off/month. Really, I don’t know how that’s going to work out for the fam.

We are so clingy that the thought of not seeing her or being able to talk to her for 36 hours puts me on a tailspin. </3

Of course, I constantly worry – will she be able to eat, will she be able to sleep kahit saglit man lang? Will she generally be OK??

Which rathole clinic or hospital will she be assigned in? Baka mahawa sya ng TB huhu! @_@

I’ve taken such great care of my darling in a controlled surrounding all her life that finally letting her loose in the big bad world really stresses me. What if there’s an emergency? Will I be able to get to her quickly?

READ MORE ABOUT CLINICAL CLERKSHIP HERE.

And I’m not the only one doing all the worrying, lol. If there’s anyone who can possibly be more stressed than me, it’s her little sissy! They have such a strong bond that they are practically inseparable. Even in school, they talk & text about random things.

β€œA sister is someone who loves you from the heart. No matter how much you argue, you cannot be drawn apart. She is a joy that cannot be taken away. Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.” BFFs for life, these 2. <3

They love & care for each other so much that our babylove made a surprise care package for her Ate & gave it today sans tears (coz she already dried out her eyes from all that crying in the bathroom hehe). πŸ˜›

Ate is sweetness personified..

Clerkship is exciting for her, but stressful for me as a helicopter mommy.. “On their third year, medical students will immerse in disease management, learning more about the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and clinical management of common as well as rare medical conditions. At this point, you will start interacting with the patients in the actual hospital setting.”

At! Mukhang matagal-tagal pa kakayod si Kap my Kap para sa residency ng aming prinsesa! ;)) Anong specializationΒ naman kaya ang pipiliin nya?

My darling, the road to MD is not going to be easy. You will have sleepless nights, little to no time for food, you will meet & interact with all kinds of people. Have to work with power-tripping superiors & deal with peer pressure in being the best. There will be time that you’ll think of quitting. I only have one piece of advice to give you.. WHEN YOU’RE READY TO QUIT, JUST REMEMBER HOW GOOD YOU LOOK IN THAT WHITE COAT! ;))

Read (& cry hehe): ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BEING A DOCTOR IN THE PHILIPPINES. Ate, kaya mo yan. I bilib in you! πŸ˜‰

PS: Surgeon General’s warning – The #roadtoMD is quite expensive ha, nakakahimatay! @_@ At nakaka-puwing. I always find myself tearing up tuwing bayaran na hehe.

Wishing Jana the best, she’s getting closer to her goals! One thing you can give her is a sleeping bag, not the cushy one kasi sobrang init naman., yon thin cloth lang. So when and if she has a chance to sleep, safely tucked in sya.
